Program

The conference's main theme is Unsaturated Soils for All Environments, and will include typical topics in unsaturated soils, but also aspires to include special topics on the role of unsaturated mechanics in cold regions geotechnique, the role of unsaturated soils in managing the impacts of climate change, as well as practical application of unsaturated soil theory in geohazards, mining, and other fields.

Call for Abstracts / Papers

We received an excellent response to the Call for Abstracts with over 250 abstracts submitted for consideration and look forward to creating a comprehensive technical program for the conference.

Paper Submissions
All papers must be submitted through the PanAm UNSAT 2025 online paper management system (in PDF format) by December 10, 2024. At that time, at least one full conference registration must be submitted by one of the authors to permit the final review process to proceed. Note that authors are limited to two papers/abstracts per paid registration.

All authors must use one of the paper templates (provided below) and follow the guidelines provided when preparing their papers.

Abstract-Only Case Study Submissions

Practitioners wishing to present a case study have an abstract-only option. They will have a presentation slot, but do not have to submit a paper, if confidentiality or other issues prevent a written submission. Authors of abstract-only case study submissions are required to re-submit a formatted, final abstract (in Word format) by December 10, 2024.

Details and Timeline
PanAm UNSAT 2025 will include a poster session with dedicated time in the conference program. Authors can indicate their preference for oral or poster presentation when they submit their papers.

The paper review process will be completed in February 2025. Authors will be informed by e-mail of the review results at that time or shortly after. All accepted papers for which an author registration has been received will be included in the conference proceedings, which will be published as a separate proceedings in the ISSMGE repository as open access publication with a DOI. All authors, including those who are asked to make changes or edits, will be required to submit their final papers in PDF format by March 28, 2025.

Based on the review process, and input from the Technical Committee, authors may be approached to publish expanded versions of their paper in the Journal of Geotechnical and Geological Engineering, which will publish a special edition on this conference.
